Concrete Estimate Template for Excel

Concrete bids hinge on two numbers: the yardage you order and the margin left after the pour. Order short and you pay for a second truck; order long and the overage is cost you cannot bill. Doing the volume on a phone calculator and the price from memory makes every quote a little different.

The KlipPack Concrete Estimate Template is an Excel workbook with 3 sheets and 18 formulas that takes a slab from dimensions to a priced bid on one Estimate sheet.

What's inside

Volume with waste built in

Enter length, width, and thickness in inches. The sheet returns square footage and cubic yards using L x W x (thickness / 12) / 27, with your waste percentage (10% by default) already added.

Seven material lines

Ready-mix per cubic yard; rebar or mesh, gravel base, and vapor barrier per square foot; lump sums for forms, pump truck, and misc items like chairs, sealer, and sawcut. Sales tax applies to the materials subtotal.

Labor from productivity

A square-feet-per-crew-hour figure (40 by default) and your burdened hourly rate produce crew-hours and labor cost.

Bid and margin

Total direct cost plus your markup (20% by default) gives the bid price, gross profit, and gross margin, with a one-line note on how markup differs from margin.

Price Book

12 concrete line items (4-inch and 6-inch slab, footings, stem wall, stamped, sidewalk, driveway, demo and haul, rebar, pump truck, sawcut, sealer) with blank unit-price cells for your local numbers.

Who it's for

Concrete and flatwork contractors, and general contractors who self-perform slabs, who want a fast, consistent quote for slabs, driveways, sidewalks, and patios.

Who it's not for

Pricing footings or stem walls by volume: the calculator is built for slabs and flatwork, and footings and stem walls are per-foot Price Book items you price yourself. Multi-trade jobs with overhead fit the full estimating system better.

FAQ

Does it work in Google Sheets?

Yes. It is a plain .xlsx with standard formulas and no macros, so it opens in Excel or Google Sheets.

Does it tell me how many yards to order?

Yes. It converts length, width, and thickness to cubic yards and adds your waste percentage, so the ready-mix order is sized before you call the plant.

Can I change the defaults?

Yes. Waste (10%), crew productivity (40 sq ft per crew-hour), and markup (20%) are inputs, not fixed values. Set them to match your crew and market.

Is there a version for multi-trade jobs?

Yes. The Contractor Estimating & Job-Profit System covers materials, labor, subs, overhead, and a client proposal across trades.

Estimates are only as good as the prices and production rates you enter. You are responsible for checking every bid before you send it.
